Student Code of Conduct

 

The College has an excellent reputation, and this is in part because students are mature,
courteous, and well-behaved. You too will benefit from this reputation but to do so, you must
uphold the same high standards in yourself. We expect students’ behaviour to be exemplary
while you are on site, in the surrounding area, on residential trips, educational visits, sports
matches, volunteering or work experience.
We endeavour not to have too many rules but would like to specify the following.
 
You must:
1. Bring your ID to college, always wear it and have it clearly on show so all members of
    the Woodhouse College staff are able to identify you and keep you safe. 
2. Treat all members of the College community with respect and courtesy. This includes
    showing respect for race, gender, religion, sexuality, and the differences which make our
    community rich and diverse.
3. Be ambassadors for the College in the local area be courteous and polite to members
    of the local community. 
4. Respect the facilities, books and resources provided to assist you in your studies.
5. Switch off phones and store them out of sight in class, unless by permission of the
    teacher. Be ready for learning with headphones, hats and coats off with hoodies down
    and bags away.
6. Be available for college work and activities Monday-Friday from 9 until 4.15. Do not
    take on part-time work or other regular commitments without college permission during
    this time. Where possible avoid appointments during this time.
7. Bring visitors to check in at reception. If you are aware of any unauthorised visitors,
    you must report this to a member of staff.
8. Attend and be punctual to all registered sessions maintaining the 95% attendance expectations.
 
Attendance Policy
We expect you to
1. Strive to ensure attendance to all lessons, tutorials, and directed study is consistently
    above 95%
2. Attend the Woodhouse College Day as per your individual timetable, arriving on time for all lessons.
3. Maintain outstanding levels of attendance to college throughout the academic year,
     attending college every day (barring illness or other exceptional circumstances
    where permission has been granted in advance by the College).
4. Ensure that your parent/carer informs the College of any absence each day
5. For a medical procedure or treatment you must provide evidence of the appointment.
6. Attend all internal and public examinations as per the set timetable.
7. Keep appointments with academic and pastoral tutors.
8. Participate in Woodhouse Plus and enrichment activities which support the wider learning experience.
9. Participate fully in the development of personal, social and employability skills through Tutor
     Time and Tutor 1-1s, personal development events and assemblies.
10 Go to reception if you feel unwell onsite and need to go home, they will contact parent/carers.
 
Academic and Learning Expectations
We are ready to engage, work and learn.
We expect you to
1. Not eat and drink (except water) in lessons
2. Have headphones, hats, and coats off with hoods down and bags away.
3. Attend all lessons and be punctual.
4. Come to lessons with the appropriate equipment, ready to make an immediate start.
5. Engage in all class activities and contribute to discussions in a positive way.
6. Maintain organised files with well-structured notes.
7. Meet all deadlines for homework assignments and formal assessments.
8. Reflect on feedback and respond positively, seeing it as a stepping stone to self-improvement.
9. Catch up immediately on any work missed because of absence.
10 Ensure you complete all work set to the best of your ability.
11 Spend at least five hours on average per week per subject working outside the classroom.
 
Behaviour Expectations
We are committed to outstanding standards.
We expect you to refrain from
1. Bringing non-students onto the College campus.
2. Allowing anyone else to use your ID or follow you through the turnstile/gates.
3. Dropping or leaving litter around the College campus or in surrounding roads.
4. Smoking or using e-cigarettes on any part of the College campus including outside.
5. Being in possession of any bladed articles, offensive weapons, or firearms.
6. Being under the influence of alcohol, illegal drugs, legal highs, or any other non-prescribed 
     psychoactive substances or bringing any of these into college
7. Engaging in any violent or threatening behaviour.
8. Bullying, harassing, or discriminating against any member of the College community.
9. Any form of racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, gender identity-based discrimination or
    intolerance of religious belief.
10.Using the College facilities to access or share any obscene, offensive, or illegal material.
11.Any behaviour which may bring the College into disrepute. This includes any criminal or antisocial
    behaviour within or beyond the college.
 
Digital Conduct and Online Responsibilities
We are committed to responsible, safe, and respectful use of digital tools and systems.
We use technology for learning and connection. We expect all students to act with integrity,
responsibility and respect in their digital conduct.
 
By logging into any trust system or connecting to the college Wi-Fi, students agree to follow the Frontier Learning Trust Acceptable Use Agreement (AUA). The AUA outlines expectations for responsible and safe use of devices, internet, and digital tools, and can be found on the Student Hub SharePoint.
 
If you fail to observe any aspect of the Code of Conduct or associated policies, the College’s disciplinary procedures will be implemented.
